Fabulous French luxury watch brand Jaeger-LeCoultre is proud to announce Ryk Neethling, South African Olympic gold medallist and shareholder of Val de Vie, home of South Africa’s top polo estate, as its new friend of the brand.

“Founded over 180 years ago, Jaeger-LeCoultre epitomises craftsmanship and quality. Since this iconic Fine Watchmaking Maison is also synonymous with polo, it was only natural for me to associate myself with it. I am honoured to become a small part in the success of this remarkable brand,” says Neethling.

He chose the Master Geographic as a watch to wear for any occasion. “It was quite difficult picking from such a wide range of incredible timepieces, but the Master Geographic instantly caught my eye. It is classic, elegant and understated. I love it.

“I believe that if you ask anybody who knows me well or if you read my book (Chasing the Dream), you will learn that the above values and characteristics are exactly what I stand for and what guided me to where I am today. Since our values are closely aligned, I look forward to a long-lasting relationship supporting what Jaeger-LeCoultre stands for and, of course, their elegant timepieces."

At the same time, he will continue to focus on growing Val de Vie as a top polo destination in the Western Cape.

“Val de Vie has become the home of polo in SA after hosting some of the biggest polo tournaments and events such as the Sentebale Polo Cup and Veuve Clicquot Masters. I am constantly working to bring bigger and more exclusive polo events to South Africa,” Neethling concludes.

Jaeger-LeCoultre has a longstanding association with the game of kings and its iconic watch, the Reverso, is associated with the game as the reversible watch face allows it to be protected during the game.

The brand is official sponsor and timekeeper for the Gold Cup for the British Open at Cowdray Park Polo Club and is timekeeper for British Polo Day, as well as both sponsor and timekeeper for the Argentine Polo Open Championship in Buenos Aires.

In 2016, Jaeger-LeCoultre reveals the unexpected and showcases a new vision of the Reverso, which is celebrating its 85th birthday.

Since its founding in 1833, Jaeger-LeCoultre has been delighting connoisseurs of Fine Watchmaking. Heirs to the inventive spirit of the Manufacture founder, Antoine LeCoultre, its artisans unite their expertise in creating collections that are as surprising as they are sophisticated: Reverso, Master, Rendez-Vous, Duomètre, Geophysic® and Atmos.

The Grande Maison is perpetually inspired by its rich history. The Hybris Mechanica® and Hybris Artistica® collections testify to the creative passion driving the men and women who exercise their skills beneath its roof.

The unique history of each Jaeger-LeCoultre timepiece begins in the workshops of the Vallée de Joux, Switzerland, an extraordinary place set among the pristine forest of the Alps, and springs to life on the wrist of those who wear it and make it their own.
